Events

Virginia Wine Country Tour

Date: Sun, 26 Oct
Time: Depart East Falls Church Metro 9.30AM (Orange line)
         Return East Falls Church Metro 6.30PM
Cost: $80 (includes tasting fees at 3 wineries, shuttle service, and boxed lunch)

Join the DC Tulane Alumni Club on a tour of the Virginia Wine Country.  The shuttle will depart East Falls Church metro and the group will visit 3 wineries in the Virginia Hunt Country including Philip Carter Vineyard, Three Fox Vineyard, and Miracle Valley.  In addition to tastings at each location the vinters will speak to the group about their wine making process, and if possible offer tours of the facility.  October is the height of harvest season so access to the harvesting machinery may be limited.  Weather permitting everyone will be allowed to walk the properties to see the vines and grapes. 

Tour is limited to 25 people max.  You can either metro to East Falls Church, but parking is also free on the weekends.

Come watch the US Men's National soccer team take on the Cuban national team in this World Cup 2010 regional qualifier.  This is only the second match between these two nations since 1947, and in the match earlier this month the US team beat the Cubas on their home turf in Havana.  Hopefully the Americans can make it 2-0 with another win!

CHALLENGE GRANT OPPORTUNITIES

 

The Albert H. “Sonny” Small, Jr. (A&S’79) Regional Challenge Grant for Tulane Alumni Residing in the DC, Virginia, Maryland Area

Tulane alumnus Albert H. “Sonny” Small, Jr. has announced a unique opportunity for alumni in the D.C., Virginia and Maryland area making a gift to the Tulane University Rebuilding Fund. Mr. Small will match all donations, dollar for dollar*, made to the Tulane University Rebuilding Fund from alumni donors in D.C., Virginia and Maryland and those who have not yet made a gift to the Tulane Rebuilding Fund - up to $500,000 total.

This Challenge allows these alumni to give to Tulane University knowing that the amount they give will be doubled, making the impact of their individual gifts even greater. The collective impact of new gifts from alumni and matching funds from this challenge grant will provide essential support for Tulane during its rebuilding process.
Donors from these areas need only make their gift to the Rebuilding Fund.  Qualifying gifts will automatically be applied to the Albert H. “Sonny” Small, Jr. Challenge Grant.
